Analysis of pop magazine 2

Vibe 2009
My second choice for a pop magazine is Vibe. This magazine is a little different to my first choice, it seems to be more classy as there's not as much going on compared to the magazine Billboard. The fact that the background is a plain bold blue colour is a massive contrast to the outside photograph in Billboard. Here it highlights the cover stars face making her beauty stand out. There is also a massive lack of text on the cover here, and I feel the designer maybe wanted all attention to go to the famous singer on the cover. However, when text is used it is all the same fonts and colours, with the exception of the title, to keep the class and sophistication. The title for this cover would be difficult not to recognise as it is so largely presented. The colour scheme is blues, black and white. I feel these are used as they are very neutral colours, therefore the magazines target audience can be unisex. The cover star is popular and liked by both genders. She is posing in a way which makes her look attractive and then sets an image that suggests she is "careless".

I think the target audience for this magazine are boys and girls, aged 15-18, and would only pick up this magazine if they had a wide interest in pop music. In contrast to the previous magazine, I don't feel there would be much more included in the magazine other than about artists and bands.
