Analysis of pop magazine 1
Billboard 2009
Billboard is a weekly American pop magazine that is focused on mainly the music industry, but also may contain other lifestyle characteristics that are relevant to the target audience. When looking at the magazine, the mode of address appears to be quite childish. The way the titled letters 'b', 'a' and 'd' are differently coloured inside the circle already gives quite a playful first impression. The colour scheme is bright using mainly yellows, whites and oranges. Predominantly, these colours are usually associated with children and the new born, as they are so fresh and natural.
I feel that the cover star, Miley Cyrus is more of a role model to girls aged 10-16. She is turning round looking into the camera, suggesting the magazine is relaxed and welcoming. I feel that this is the correct target audience for this magazine. Girls who are beginning to mature, and have an interest in the latest music and other elements that would continue throughout this magazine such as fashion, news/gossip, pictures and other entertainment.
The background to this magazine is natural and relaxing, perhaps adding emphasis to the youth of the target audience.
Although the target audience may be young adolescence the text across the front cover appears to be fairly mature, and clear with such a simple font. The actual writing is also easy to read, again highlighting the young target audience.
